Volunteer Committees of Temple B'nai Torah
Temple B'nai Torah has seven committees, chaired by members of our Board of Directors, which plan and oversee the direction of our Congregation. We encourage you to participate in one or more of these groups as a way to meet your fellow congregants and to ensure that our Temple's activities are meaningful to you and your family.
Executive Committee: Consists of our president, first and second vice-presidents, treasurer, secretary, and immediate past president. This committee sets the agenda for upcoming board meetings, acts as our personnel committee, and handles other matters assigned to it by our Board of Directors. Chair: Jackie Frank
Administration: Works with Temple staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of our Congregation. The Administration Committee develops policies for running our kitchen, maintaining our building, supporting our cemetery. Chair: Dina Leviten
Capital Projects Committee: Oversees our general maintenance and capital budget. They also supervised the planning and building of our facility in Bellevue. Chair: Rich Wagner
Beit Midrash: Provides educational activities and programs for the Congregation and the broader community for the purpose of promoting knowledge of our Jewish heritage and practice. The committee conducts and maintains our religious school, adult education program, and Temple youth groups. Chair: Jacque Weddle
Finance Committee: Ensures fiscal responsibility in the running of Temple B'nai Torah. The committee develops and monitors our annual budget, plans fund-raising activities, and implements our Pledge Policy. Chair: David Marks
Beit K'nesset: Welcomes new members to our Temple, helps new and current members find meaningful ways to engage in Temple life, and trains new volunteers and leaders. This committee also organizes chavurot, small groups of congregants who meet regularly for worship or social activities. Responsible for developing and implementing community-building activities for the Congregation. These include social action projects, our Mitzvah Corps and special holiday celebrations for Purim, Chanukah, and Pesach. Chair: Karen Baer
Beit Tefillah: Oversees all of the worship aspects of Shabbat, festival, holiday, and life cycle services. The Worship Committee also plans our High Holy Day observances, supervises our usher/greeter corps, and coordinates special services. Chair: Joe Dover |
